About KoalaGuide
Who writes KoalaGuide, who runs it and how we make money. Honest answers.
Who we are
KoalaGuide is written by people who did a working holiday in Australia recently, in their own language. Italian, Spanish and Taiwanese backpackers write the Italian, Spanish and Traditional Chinese editions; they are not machine translations of the English one.
We write what we wish someone had told us before we landed: which visa subclass applies to your passport, what to do in the first week, how to get job-ready in a day and where the koalas actually are.
Who runs KoalaGuide
KoalaGuide (Koala Guide, ABN 38 159 805 231) is based in Sydney, Australia. It is owned by the same people as CBD College (RTO 91399).
CBD College is an Australian registered training organisation that also runs the Australian Barista School. It delivers RSA, RCG, White Card, First Aid, Barista, WHS and TAE courses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. When you book a CBD College course, CBD College earns the course fee and pays KoalaGuide a commission. When we recommend a course, it is usually ours, and we say so. We tell you when a different provider or an online option is a better fit for your state, and course blocks are always labelled.

How we make money
- Course sales: when you book an RSA, RCG, White Card, First Aid or barista course with CBD College or the Australian Barista School through this site, CBD College earns the course fee and pays KoalaGuide a commission. You get the 10% KoalaGuide discount. That is how KoalaGuide is funded today.
- Partner links: we may later add links to insurance, money-transfer, SIM, campervan, tour or tax-refund companies that pay us a commission. If and when we do, every such link will be marked and disclosed on the page, it will never cost you more, and we will only list companies we used or would use.
- We do not sell your data and we do not run display ads.
